I have bought and sold many businesses in the past years and always went through a traditional broker as was usual. I came across GSE 6 steps on line and after much research decided to sign up with the program. I had always ended up doing most of the work when buying or selling and this seemed like the perfect answer for selling my current business.
Paul and Gill were fantastic right from the start. I followed their on-line structure, made sure I had all my documents ready and up to date and Gill created a very professional brochure for my business. Which was sent out to all leads interested in my business.
It took 6 months for the perfect buyer to come along, when they did, I had everything ready, my information was transparent and the sale went though in 8 weeks (Xmas and NY) in the middle.
Using the 6 steps and choosing to sell the business without a broker meant that I would see far more of the tire kicker and time waster leads than I would have had if going though a broker, so this is worth knowing if choosing this program. Eventually the right buyer will manifest, as mine did and he had already decided he wanted my business before he even approached me in person.
I totally recommend the GSE program to anyone who is prepared to put the work in, to know their business, figures, structure and qualities that will then make the sale process far more streamlined and successful.

Paul, Gill and the team at GSE are incredible. Very knowledgeable, really supportive and have service offerings to suit everyone. As a business advisor and consultant I was helping a client of mine (a restaurant) sell their business. My client was looking for avenues to save on the Full Brokerage commission expense. Whilst I was looking for guidance on an industry I don’t know a lot about. After having an initial chat with Paul we found the perfect happy medium and signed up to GSE’s Six Steps to Sale. It is a self paced program to prepare for sale and then go through the motions of selling. It was very informative and easy to follow. It helped us find ways to improve the value in the business before selling, determine a sale price, prepare for all the Q&A likely to come from buyers (e.g. lease, sales and financials etc), put our best foot forward in the advertising and marketing … everything!!
Furthermore, the value was exceptional as it included advertising on all of the key business sale websites and bump ups to the top of the websites again. The savings from this compared to placing directly was a massive savings, effectively paid for itself! They even have a one stop shop portal – which hosts the training, reading and task based materials/tools and even all of the leads and reporting that comes from each of the business sale websites. This made managing leads and all the necessary documents etc a breeze!
Paul also provided coaching calls to talk things through, help us formulate the sales price, material to share with potential buyers and answers to challenging buyer questions. He is very easy to talk to, keeps things jargon free for those new to talking business stuff and provides just the support you need!

Where do I even start!!!! I started one on one coaching with Paul at the start of the year during a pandemic in regional Vic. The business wasn’t failing but I wanted more (don’t we all). At first I didn’t think I could afford one on one training financially but I was putting money into everything but my own personal development so I bit the bullet. Having owned our cafe for 3 years and having built it into a thriving business, my wife and I took the decision to sell. At first I was quite daunted by the process and found it difficult to find clear advice and guidance on what to expect. I looked at businesses similar to mine on sales websites and took an educated guess on the value.

This was a mistake and I incorrectly valued my business which lead to a genuine sales enquiry falling over. At this point I decided I needed the professional help of a broker. I spoke to 3 or 4 firms both local and Sydney based. I found them to be unhelpful, unprofessional and greedy, either promising things I knew they couldn’t deliver to get me to sign up or they undervalued my business to get a quick sale.
