What inspired you to join GSE, and how has your experience here aligned with those expectations?
I joined GSE because it’s not your typical brokerage. I’d spent over 25 years in hospitality — from Michelin kitchens to corporate ops — and was tired of seeing business owners get poor advice from people who’d never run a venue themselves. GSE was built by hospitality people, for hospitality people. That practical, no-BS approach really appealed to me. Since joining, it’s been exactly that — grounded, transparent, and focused on doing right by the client.
Can you share an example of how the company supports your professional growth and development?
The support is always there, without being forced. Whether it’s bouncing ideas with Paul, using shared tools, or bringing something new to the table — like content or longer-term strategy — the attitude is: “Great, how can we help make it happen?” That kind of backing gives you the space and confidence to grow without being boxed in.
What do you enjoy most about the company culture and your day-to-day work environment?
There’s a strong sense of trust, respect, and openness. It’s a safe environment where I feel supported and heard, and where honest conversations are encouraged. My input is genuinely valued, and there’s a shared focus on doing things better for clients and for each other. We’re aligned in our values, we don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we really do make each other laugh. That mix of support, collaboration, and humour makes it a great place to work.
What would you say to others considering joining GSE?
If you come from hospo and genuinely want to help people, not just flip businesses for a commission, you’ll probably thrive here. It’s not about cookie-cutter sales tactics. It’s about real support, solutions, and building something meaningful. If that sounds like you, it’s absolutely worth a conversation.
What inspired you to join GSE, and how has your experience here aligned with those expectations?
I had known Paul since 2018 when I put my coffee shop in Crows Nest on the market. It was something I had on my mind for quite some time, but it wasn’t until I sold my meal prep company in 2023 that I contacted Paul again, and we started chatting more seriously about switching over to becoming a broker.
In terms of expectations, it was more about my expectations of myself than those of the company. It’s a never-ending learning experience; that’s what I really like about it. It never feels like Groundhog Day because you are constantly faced with different people and challenges, and you learn to solve the puzzles needed to complete a sale.
Can you share an example of how the company supports your professional growth and development?
Being part of an experienced team is obviously very helpful, and the fortnightly training provides greater insight into the vast scope of what we need to stay aware of each week.
What do you enjoy most about the company culture and your day-to-day work environment?
It’s great to be part of a team where you can call any team member, have a chat, and ask for feedback.
What would you say to others considering joining GSE?
Be open to what’s coming and trust the process.
What inspired you to join GSE, and how has your experience here aligned with those expectations?
I was originally introduced to GSE through a friend and very quickly established that this was a team and something that I needed to be part of. The journey so far has been filled with lots of new experiences, loads of learning allowing me to grow professionally and personally.
Can you share an example of how the company supports your professional growth and development?
Just the fact the support is completely open and flexible. We have such a diverse range of exceptionally experienced people in the team that all bring such value. Anyone in the team can provide whatever the support needed.
What do you enjoy most about the company culture and your day-to-day work environment?
That it is supportive and flexible at all times. Whether you are working remotely or from one of the state offices there is real trust and support in what we do each day. Everyone is driven, motivated and committed.We all work independently, yet collectively are all striving to achieve great outcomes for our clients.
What would you say to others considering joining GSE?
If you want to take control over your own future, success and career development, then come and join the team setting the standards and expectations others only dream of achieving. Do it, you won’t regret it and the only question you will have is Why? Why did I not do this sooner.
