Hospitality Consultant and Sales Consultant (Gold Coast) @ GSE Hospitality Brokers

Born and raised in Melbourne, Matt Lane began his hospitality career at a very early age cleaning out fried chicken vats at Ollies Trollies, Glenferrie Rd Malvern and working occasional shifts in family-owned pubs.

Matt held management positions in much-loved Melbourne cafes, clubs and restaurants and was managing consultant for the build and opening operations of two successful restaurants and bars; from the mid to late 90’s.

In 1998 Matt relocated to the Byron shire, NSW and in 2000 transformed an old house into a highly successful café, wine bar and restaurant in Mullumbimby. After 8 years in Byron Shire Matt relocated to NYC as GM of a wildly successful Mexican Restaurant, Bar, Café and Taqueria.

Matt returned to Melbourne in 2009 and opened Mamasita Mexican, followed by a second venture, Hotel Jesus in 2016. After running them remotely for the past 4 years (yes it can be done!); he recently sold both venues, allowing space to take on more consultancy and exit strategy projects.

Just prior to the departure from Melbourne, Matt took on a consultancy CEO role for 100 Burgers Group, which involved restructuring and conceptualising several venues within the portfolio.

In 2021, Matt and his family relocated to Currumbin, Queensland.

Matt has consulted and managed for a variety of hospitality venues over his 30-year career and, as such has negotiated Landlord / Tenant requirements, Commercial Leases, Permits and Approvals. With strengths in areas of recruitment, expense management, design and marketing, Matt thrives in assisting those to realise their full potential, working with existing infrastructure and implementing systems.

With a lifetime dedicated to Hospitality and a keen eye for local and emerging trends, Matt is excited to assist others in both the growth of their current business, exit planning and expansion.
